  • Big Mixing Bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Pan (22,5cm × 22,5cm)
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Baking Paper

Method

Method

  1. Prepare 1 batch of speculaasbrokken dough.
  2. Preheat your oven to 175 degrees celsius.
  3. Line your baking pan with baking paper.
  4. Mix together almond paste and water. NOTE: This makes it easier to spread and will keep it moist.
  5. Divide the dough in two pieces, one a bit bigger than the other.
  6. Use a rolling pin to roll out the bigger piece of dough to about the size of your baking pan.
  7. Place the rolled out dough into the baking pan and spread it up the sides a little as well.
  8. Spread the almond paste mix on top.
  9. Roll out the other piece of dough as well and place on top, spread to cover the almond paste mix.
  10. Brush with a mixture of milk and egg.
  11. Add almond halves on top and brush with the mixture again.
  12. Bake for about 40 minutes.
  13. Let it cool before removing it from the baking pan and cutting it into pieces.
